Substance Use & Mental Health Advanced Recovery Practitioner - Leicester City Job Introduction

We're looking to recruit an Advanced Recovery Practitioner to join our Substance Use & Mental Health (SUMH) Leicester City Team. Whilst working within this role you'll make a real difference to the lives of the people whom we support as you develop personal, client centred, collaborative treatment and recovery plans to help individuals to turn things around. As an Advanced Recovery Practitioner within our Substance Use and Mental Health Team (SUMH), you will ideally have experience of working with individuals who have drug and or alcohol usage who also have co-occurring mental health difficulties or you will possess experience in a closely related field in health, social care or criminal justice services and/or a relevant qualification in a related subject, in social work as an example.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide enhanced care co-ordination for a complex/high-risk caseload of service users with co-existing substance use and mental health issues and deliver short-term psychological evidenced based interventions. Additionally, you will support and contribute to the delivery of continued professional development (CPD) events for staff within the service and with key partner agencies. The role will entail providing case consultation and advice to the wider staff team and on occasions sometimes involve leading multi-disciplinary team discussions to support holistic and individual treatment planning.
Whilst ensuring excellent liaison with mental health services, you will take a pro-active and lead role in supporting substance use and mental health pathway development within the service and work closely with partnership agencies.

Role Responsibility
- Provide enhanced care co-coordination for individuals with substance misuse who have high-risk/complex needs which may also include homelessness, criminality, long term conditions, domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, self-harm, suicide ideation etc.
- Conduct assessments of need and risk assessments and formulate effective risk management plans and recovery plans that taken into account the personal recovery goals of the client.
- Effective partnership working with members of any multi-disciplinary team and other agencies and taking on the role of lead professional when appropriate
- Deliver interventions that are underpinned by a strong evidence base
- Participate in clinical meetings and complex case meetings and be confident and competent at presenting cases orally and through written reports
- Support the learning and development of Recovery Workers and Trainee Recovery workers, providing specialist input into Multi-Disciplinary Meetings
- Provide professional supervision and mentoring to staff to support their development, learning and standards of care
- Being known as an expert in substance misuse and mental health within the service.
- Delivering CPD internal & external learning events and representing Turning Point nationally if required in your specialist area
The Ideal Candidate
- Exceptional report writing and case notes
- Demonstrable experience in working within asubstance misuse treatment and recovery setting
- Understanding of risk and risk management, as it applies to substance misuse and complexity
- Significant experience of working in health and social care
- Social Work, psychology or other relevant qualification
- Specialist interest and experience of working with individuals with other complexities alongside substance misuse. This may be mental health, long term conditions, criminality, homelessness, Domestic Violence etc.

Salary Starting salary £28, 392 with annual pay progression up to £33,215 per annum
