Subject Matter Specialist This position requires an active Top-Secret Clearance a Secret Clearance would be considered. We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) to provide technical expertise and support for a Department of Defense (DoD) Air Force (AF) contract. This critical role requires a candidate with extensive IT experience, a strong background in cybersecurity, and in-depth knowledge of DoD enterprise infrastructure, governance, policies, and procedures. We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) to provide technical expertise and support for a Department of Defense (DoD) Air Force (AF) contract. This critical role requires a candidate with extensive IT experience, a strong background in cybersecurity, and in-depth knowledge of DoD enterprise infrastructure, governance, policies, and procedures. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Subject Matter Specialist: Pay commensurate with experience. Subject Matter Specialist Responsibilities Include: Provide technical expertise and authoritative advice on cybersecurity and IT management practices, ensuring compliance with DoD and federal regulations. Advise on strategic IT initiatives, policies, and infrastructure improvements for Air Force or DoD programs. Oversee the implementation and enforcement of Information Assurance (IA) policies and procedures across IT systems. Ensure the alignment of security practices with DoD standards and best practices. Collaborate with DoD, federal agencies, and key stakeholders to ensure all projects meet security, governance, and compliance requirements. Support the implementation of cybersecurity frameworks and strategies that protect critical infrastructure. Mentor and support IT teams, sharing expertise to promote a culture of cybersecurity excellence. Implement and oversee Zero Trust architecture, ensuring compliance with the latest NIST Cybersecurity Framework and MIST Zero Trust Guidance, enhancing security across all IT systems. Lead the integration of Zero Trust principles into the organization's cybersecurity framework, ensuring a layered, proactive approach to security management. Integrate and align cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST and MIST Zero Trust guidelines into the DoD's IT operations and security infrastructure. Performs other job-related duties as assigned Subject Matter Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field. Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) or equivalent Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level III certification. Minimum of 15 years of IT experience, including: Providing technical expertise to DoD, other federal agencies, or Fortune 400 organizations. In-depth experience with Air Force or DoD enterprise infrastructure, governance, policies, and procedures. Strong background in cybersecurity management within a DoD or federal environment. Proven ability to provide technical leadership and manage IT projects in high-security environments. Extensive knowledge of DoD security frameworks, cybersecurity standards, and best practices. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with senior leaders and stakeholders. Ability to analyze complex cybersecurity issues and develop strategic solutions that align with DoD security requirements. Proven experience working with various stakeholders across agencies to ensure compliance and successful project outcomes.
