QUALIFICATIONS - High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in social work or sociology preferred
- Working knowledge of computer word processing, Microsoft Office applications, and Google Suite.
- Previous experience working with homeless and foster care populations.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.
- Valid AZ Driver's License and have ability to travel within community/school sites throughout work day
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
- Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
- Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Students in Transition Clerk will work in partnership with school and district staff and community partners to support students and their families who are in periods of transition, such as those experiencing homelessness or being involved with foster care through child welfare organizations.
- Collect and maintain documentation and data for the department, district, and state.
- Log, track, and reconcile data using district and state systems/databases (i.e., Synergy, Google, etc.)
- Create, organize, and maintain student files as they pertain to McKinney-Vento and Foster Care.
- Disseminate information regarding McKinney-Vento/Homeless Education and Foster Care Education to students, staff, and the community.
- Provide support and resource information as needed
- Assist students, families, schools, and agencies, with obtaining needed records and documents.
- As needed, contact students, families, and agencies to verify needs, obtain accurate information, and coordinate services.
- Coordinate services and maintain regular communication with district schools and departments, as well as community agencies.
- Maintain documentation of communication and meets all required deadlines as they pertain to services for McKinney-Vento and Foster Care.
- Assist with McKinney-Vento grant applications and related reports.
- Assist with Foster Care documentation and reports.
- Assistswith documentation for the dispute resolution process.
- Inventory, assemble, distribute, and assist with the purchase of items (i.e., backpacks, school supplies, books, etc.)
- Assist with other student service items/resources for students and families.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms, sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend as necessary for student learning and safety. The employee may lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens, and use the telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Indoor office environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with parents, students, staff and the public.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS The Students in Transition Clerk will report to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. The Students in Transition Clerk will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
