SUMMARY: California Aeronautical University Check Instructors are responsible for ensuring the standards set forth by the FAA and the University are being upheld through rigorous checking and testing events.
Check Instructors are also responsible for maintaining a safe and effective learning environment and must uphold the philosophy and mission of the university while instilling positive and progressive attitudes in all students.
JOB REQUIREMENTS include but are not limited to the following: COMPLIANCE:
- Responsible for compliance with all local, state, accreditation and federal regulations.
- Ensure that all employees and students are held accountable to the company's policies and procedures and applicable laws.
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, and security of campus files, documents and reports.
- Review all necessary policies and procedures to ensure a culture of compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Perform stage checks, end-of-course checks and flight instructor initial training as assigned by the Director/ Assistant Director of Flight Instruction
- Provide oversight and mentorship for line CFI staff
- Ensure FAA and University standards are being maintained during daily flight operations
- Observe line CFI flight activities and provide constructive feedback to promote safety and quality of instruction
- Provide feedback to the Director/ Assistant Director of Flight Instruction to assist in operational improvements
- Assist in the auditing of student files to ensure FAA part 141 record keeping requirements are being met
- Assist in the auditing of flight training records and report insufficient records to the Director/ Assistant Director of Flight Instruction
- Serves as Flight Training Operations representative as necessary;
- Supervise all aircraft operations for safety;
- Intervene when safety of flight is in doubt and provide corrective measures;
- Monitors and insures CAU standardization of CFIs;
- Provides both classroom and flight instruction as needed;
- Follow objectives of course syllabus as provided by CAU.
- Prepare and implement day-by-day course outline.
- Prepare lesson plans and required materials for each day's instruction.
- Promote a positive learning environment in the aircraft and in the classroom.
- Motivate and encourage students to attend class regularly and apply themselves to their course of study.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication using a variety of teaching methods.
- Ensure that all students are held accountable to CAU rules and regulations.
- Recommend improvements in course design, materials, equipment, and facilities that may enhance student's learning experiences and preparation for employment.
