Job Summary

Provides one-stop student service access to the college support services. Provides services to new, continuing, and prospective students on admissions, courses, program requirements, registration procedures, other support services, and a variety of general college information. Participates in special programs designed to promote student recruitment and retention. Gives campus tours and presentations as needed. Responds to inquiries about the college from continuing and prospective students; prepares reports related to enrollment and student services; records information in databases, and correspondence with continuing and prospective students. Performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

30% - Assists current and prospective international students with information by accessing services for international student processes, student visa requirements, admissions, assessment, advisement, registration, financial aid, etc. Produces required sponsored student paperwork for the sponsoring agencies and for the students. Processes international students' admission applications. Manages Student and Exchange Visitor (SEVIS) database and confidential student files.

30% - Performs academic advising and retention functions for international students, while focusing on ESL advisement and support of the program. Responds to inquiries concerning admissions, enrollment, programs, and services in person, via email correspondence, or by phone.

30% - Assists departmental manager and/or other departmental staff with special projects related to international/intercultural events. Maintains departmental calendar and schedules for the International Education Program, as well as utilizes the college financial system in budget-related activities.

10% - Assists in advisement functions and activities for the International Club. Prepares consumer information (flyers, brochures, etc.) and creates/maintains basic departmental web page information. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, customer service, or related student development programs.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Two (2) years of experience or more working in higher education

B. Two (2) years of experience or more in work that requires prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines

C. Two (2) years of experience working with international students (F-1 and other visas)

D. Experience working with multiple languages

E. Experience using software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Student Information Systems

Special Working Conditions
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving:
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
