LEHIGH UNIVERSITY. The College of Health (COH) and the University Counseling and Psychological Services (UCPS) at Lehigh University invite applications for a jointly-appointed non-tenure-track and non-tenured Teaching Assistant Professor with a specialization in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology with an anticipated start date of July 1 2025. This position is a renewable, fixed-term, non-tenure-track, full-time position. The initial term of appointment is 3-5 years, and the salary range is $80,000-$90,000 dependent upon experience.
Candidates must have an earned PhD or other terminal degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology or a closely related field by the date of employment. Candidates must be licensed or license eligible within 12 months of the date of hire.
The individual hired will be expected to teach three courses per academic year in the College of Health, including courses with experiential learning components, as well as participating in departmental, college, and university service. Responsibilities to University Counseling and Psychological Services are to conduct outreach events for the Lehigh community with emphasis on students, mentor trainees in the University Counseling and Psychological Services center, and collaborate with UCPS staff on research and evaluation of programs. The faculty member in this position will work closely with the Associate Deans, Staff, Department Chairs, and faculty as well as the Director of and staff members in University Counseling and Psychological Services.
While the position is not tenurable, Teaching Assistant Professors who develop excellent records in the areas of teaching and service are expected to become eligible for consideration for promotion to the rank of Teaching Associate Professor, and ultimately to the rank of Teaching Full Professor.
The partnership between the College of Health and UCPS to support student mental health aims to normalize and de-stigmatize mental health challenges, opening the campus conversation and student attitudes toward health to include mental as well as physical health. This position serves an important clinical need for student support, responds to student intellectual and professional interests in the College of Health, and has the possibility of developing an innovative line of research grounded in community.

As our faculty grows, the COH will add a Community Health track to our existing doctorate, an undergraduate major in Biostatistics/Health Data Science (BS), a suite of graduate degrees in Digital Health (certificate, MS, PhD), and more.
