DESCRIPTIONOtterbein is seeing a
Student HR and Payroll Coordinator who will coordinate all aspects of student employment including processing student hires, onboarding, and processing bi-weekly pay for all student employees. The Student HR and Payroll Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Payroll Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Creates all student employee, job, direct deposit, and tax deduction records in Banner.
- Produces and validates all web-time entries for student and bi-weekly payroll. Reviews web time sheets to ensure accurate, timely payment.
- Prepares and runs payroll processes in Banner for Student payroll.
- Assists with maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll files, files of processed time cards and employment contracts, as well as payroll reports.
- Tracks work hours in compliance with ACA regulations for all RAs, GAs, and part-time coaches.
- Assists with HR/ payroll operations including processing of monthly, bi-weekly and student payrolls.
- Answers questions from faculty, staff and students regarding pay, researching historical records as needed.
- Answers phones and greets visitors within the HR office; assists the HR Director as needed.
- Works with student supervisors to post student jobs on Handshake.
- Processes incoming Student Hire Forms. Works in Neoed to complete onboarding paperwork for all new student employees.
- Manages onboarding paperwork process for new student employees.
- Updates and distributes Student Employment Handbook.
- Coordinates annual trainings for supervisors of student employees.
- Supports Federal Work Study job fair.
- Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: - High school diploma and one or more years directly related experience.
- Student employment or payroll experience in a higher education environment preferred.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner a plus.
- Must be well organized, a self-starter, with a strong work ethic.
- Detail oriented with professional attitude and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Exceptional English language written and oral skills (including use of proper grammar).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Exceptional accuracy and skill with basic math.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: computer skills including fluency with computer database administration and Microsoft Office applications. Advanced Excel skills.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to work in a high pressure/high volume environment under constant deadlines and interruptions; must possess strong analytical skills and work ethic; consults with supervisor prior to beginning unfamiliar task; must be able to problem-solve and plan appropriately in order to meet timelines; must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive University data and records; must be able to work collegially with all levels of constituencies to provide exceptional customer service and resolve issues diplomatically.
