Position OverviewThe Center for Teaching Excellence invites graduate students with experience in teaching in higher education to apply for a Graduate Research Assistant position to assist with the development, promotion, and evaluation of professional development programming for Graduate Teaching Assistants and Graduate Students.Job Description
  • 70% - Assist faculty participants in CTE programs with producing course-level posters and portfolios to make work on their courses public.
  • 20% - Provide support for project evaluation.
  • 10% - Assist with developing resources and programming for Graduate Teaching Assistants.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Must be properly enrolled as a graduate student and in good academic standing at the University of Kansas.
  • Successful teaching experience in higher education, as evidenced by application materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, as evidenced by application materials.
  • Prior work experience that required working independently and in an organized and professional manner.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in the scholarship of teaching and learning and in evaluation of student learning.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Federal Work Study award.
  • Position Requirements
    1. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
    Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

    (2) A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.Additional Candidate InstructionsNote: This GRA position is .20 FTE, 8 hours per week. Tuition support is NOT available.
