GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Student Engagement and Completion Recruiter & Advisor plays a critical role in supporting student access, persistence, and success by focusing on recruitment, re-engagement, and advising of adult learners, stop-out students, and graduating high school seniors. This position builds relationships, identifies barriers, provides individualized guidance, and connects students with institutional and community resources to support enrollment, retention, and completion. This position reports to the Director of Advising, Recruiting and Testing and duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Serves as the contact person for enrollment inquiries from adult learners and stop-out students and provides ongoing communication to ensure student engagement.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of a college recruiting plan, recruiting events, and recruiting material for LSCO programs and assist with the enrollment/re-enrollment process through targeted registration events.
  3. Provide advice and a knowledgeable source of referrals for campus support programs to students.
  4. Collaborate with Director to identify prospective completers by academic semester and develop a plan of action for re-enrollment.
  5. Collaborate with the Dual Credit department to assist graduating dual credit students in the transition to completing post-high school coursework at LSCO.
  6. Facilitates onboarding events and activities for student populations to ensure timely enrollment.
  7. Establish close working relationships with partnering high schools; initiate, coordinate, and conduct recruitment presentations to high schools and community groups.
  8. Guide current students in the awareness and planning of their educational careers, including the selection of the courses and programs of study.
  9. Promote and represent the college at public events, promotional opportunities, marketing campaigns, business and committee meetings, publicity functions, and high school events (e.g., awards ceremonies, and other related occasions).
  10. Participate in the planning and implementation of campus events such as student orientation, campus tours, career fairs, open houses, graduation, etc.
  11. Assist with general student advising and course registration as needed.


OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, communication, or related fields preferred. Experience Experience working in higher education and/or recruiting preferred. Experience in project management or event planning preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of academic advising techniques and of computers, applications, and software programs that support advising programs preferred. Knowledge of the Texas State University System, industry and technology, recruiting, and job placement is preferred. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Bi-lingual preferred. Must be able to work nights and/or weekends. Requires travel. Physical Requirements Requires frequent sitting, walking, and standing. Requires frequent driving, lifting, and pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 20 pounds. Requires operating a personal computer, calculator and various pieces of office equipment. Requires infrequent stooping, bending, sorting, and filing.

Salary:

35,000
