Nature & Purpose of Position:The Kat Klub General Assistant position is reserved for SHSU students who have demonstrated exemplary leadership skills. The General Assistant provides operational support for the Kat Klub game room and offers leadership to the student staff team. Under the supervision of the Kat Klub Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing the Lowman Student Center (LSC) game room, which includes an 8-lane bowling alley, billiard tables, electronic gaming systems, and equipment, as well as facility rentals for special events.
The General Assistant must be self-motivated, an efficient problem solver, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. This individual must also exemplify the mission, vision, and values of the Lowman Student Center, demonstrating a high level of professionalism, organization, time management, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Other Requirements for the Position:Working under the direct supervision of the Kat Klub Manager, the General Assistant will:
- Assist in managing the day-to-day operations and cash-handling procedures of the Kat Klub.
- Provide high-quality customer service to students, faculty/staff, and the general public.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of all equipment in the Kat Klub to properly operate, maintain, diagnose, and correct any issues. This includes, but is not limited to: televisions, gaming consoles, recreational equipment (billiards, table tennis, air hockey), HDMI ports and switches, amplifiers, microphones, music systems, bowling lanes, and computer input systems.
- Become knowledgeable in preventative and general maintenance for all Brunswick bowling equipment, including but not limited to: bowling lanes, pinsetters, pins, ball returns, bowling balls, scoring equipment, and the point-of-sale system.
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, managing email, generating reports, etc.
- Monitor the reservation calendar and Asana inquiry system, including processing reservation requests.
- Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings, including management and staff meetings.
- Assist area supervisors with recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising student staff for the LSC as needed.
- Arrange and coordinate meetings and special events; keep the supervisor informed of critical issues or events; and provide detailed responses to requests for information.
- Assist in reviewing the Reservation Policy and related administrative procedures.
- Monitor area assessments for peer staff; prepare and file required metrics and regulatory reports.
- Be dependable and punctual for all assigned work shifts and meetings, and adhere to the LSC dress code.
