Position OverviewThe student assistant will support an online taught ecology course designed for non-science majors. Primary responsibilities include grading online discussion posts and graphical assignments, as well as providing clear, constructive feedback to students.Job Description40% - Grading Coursework:

    Evaluate student submissions for online discussions and graphing exercises, ensuring consistency with the course rubric and learning objectives.
20% - Student Support and Feedback:

    Assist students in understanding grading criteria and provide timely, constructive feedback on discussion posts and graphing assignments to promote learning and improvement.
20% - Communication Support:

    Monitor course-related emails and respond to routine student inquiries in a clear, professional, and timely manner.
20% - Record-Keeping:

    Maintain accurate and organized records of grades, feedback, and student interactions to support course administration and reporting.
Required Qualifications
    Successful completion of at least one course in Ecology (grade of A or B) as indicated on application materials.Strong written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback as indicated on application materials Junior standing or higher as indicated on application materials
Preferred Qualifications
    Previous experience with teaching, tutoring, or grading in an academic setting as evidenced in application materials.Additional coursework in environmental studies, ecology, or a related field as evidenced in application materials.
Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position.
