Beaver Brook Administration Center The Data Specialist is primarily responsible for performing daily functions in order to maintain the integrity and accuracy of student data between the District's student information system (PowerSchool) and the State's student data system (PSIS), while also providing guidance and support in entering data, so as to insure accurate and timely submission to meet reporting deadlines.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
  • Maintain accurate and up to date student record data in PowerSchool, including state required data.
  • Manage active registrations, changes in status and transfer of registrations in PSIS.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent data between PowerSchool, PSIS and CT-SEDS to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of the following State reports: PSIS, TCS, ED166, Summer Rollup, Monthly Attendance, CT Physical Fitness Assessment, Student Addresses, Testing Demographics and the Office of Civil Rights Data Collection.
  • Provide support and clarification to end users in regards to issues and/or updates to State requirements in PSIS and other required reports.
  • Assist other departments with state reporting compliance by exporting data as needed from PowerSchool.
  • Collaborate with the Registration Center to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all student enrollment.
  • Communicate with the Connecticut State Department of Education and other districts to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Create ad hoc reports using SQL and other reporting tools.
  • Calendar setup and maintenance.
  • Attendance configuration.
  • Support Parent Square.
  • Provide Help Desk support as needed.
  • Additional assigned duties as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • BA required, with concentration in a related field preferred. Demonstrated equivalent experience in the school data entry field may be considered in lieu of the BA requirement.
  • 3-5 years experience supporting Power School or other similar school data systems, with demonstrated proficiency in state reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to run data queries, create custom reports and manipulate data for analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced Excel and Word.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and other database query tools.
  • Ability to work independently, along with strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with and provide technical support to all levels of users, strongly preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • UPSEU Union Contract (Secretaries and IT)
  • 12 month position/35 hours per week
