Position Description Summary
Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for a Student Conduct & Compliance Coordinator .
The Student Conduct and Compliance Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Student Conduct and Compliance/Title IX Coordinator and is responsible for administering Student Conduct and Compliance outreach programs and case management of student conduct and behavioral intervention team cases. The Student Conduct and Compliance Coordinator is also responsible for providing the delivery of services and programs that support the Office of Student Conduct and Compliance mission and enhance the overall quality of the student life experience at Henry Ford College. The Student Conduct and Compliance Coordinator will adjudicate student conduct cases and serve as a resource for students, parents, and faculty concerning College policies.
Additionally, the Student Conduct and Compliance Coordinator serves as the Student Deputy Title IX Coordinator by working with the Title IX Coordinator in reviewing, investigating, and resolving all reports of student sexual discrimination and misconduct.
Core Competencies and Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in communication, social work, counseling, criminal justice, higher education, or another related field.
• Two or more years' experience with student conduct, conflict resolution, VAWA (Violence Against Women Act), The Clery Act, Title IX investigations, and/or bystander training.
• Understanding and application of Title IX/FERPA regulations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in facilitation/presentation techniques.
• Knowledge of best practices in student conduct administration, conflict resolution, and restorative justice principles.
• Familiarity with student conduct software and case management systems (e.g., Advocate, Maxient, etc.). General Administration
• Develop and maintain materials for training on Student Conduct, Behavioral Intervention Team, and Title IX reporting and processes.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Student Conduct and Compliance to review and implement strategic goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with Information Technology and Institutional Research departments to ensure that the software used is up-to-date and accurate for departmental functions.
• Technical administration of the Maxient database/ or other comparable student conduct software, to ensure it is set up for use across campus.
• Conduct case management for BIT, Student Conduct, and Title IX utilizing student conduct software.
• Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with community partners, HFC faculty, administration, and staff, including collective bargaining representatives, to effectively perform essential functions of the position.
• Work with the Web Team to maintain accurate information on Student Rights and Responsibilities, BIT, and Title IX webpages.
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal laws and regulations that may impact student conduct, compliance, and Title IX administration.
• Create an annual report highlighting work completed in Student Conduct, Student Compliance, Behavioral Intervention Team, and Title IX.
• Report data related to compliance with regards to Title IX regulations, Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), and Violence Against Women Act.
• Coordinate with the Assistant Director of Student Conduct and Compliance/Title IX Coordinator in other duties as necessary to achieve department goals and/or support the College's mission. Student Conduct
• Conduct thorough investigations into alleged student misconduct, ensuring all parties are treated fairly and respectfully.
• Collaborate with campus stakeholders, such as faculty, staff, and student organizations, to develop and implement proactive strategies for promoting ethical behavior and preventing misconduct.
• Administer disciplinary hearings and mediations, ensuring all proceedings are conducted in accordance with the institution's policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of student conduct cases, including detailed documentation of outcomes and sanctions.
• Provide guidance and support to students involved in conduct cases, connecting them to appropriate resources and services.
• Develop and deliver educational programs and workshops to promote awareness of campus conduct policies and foster a sense of community responsibility.
• Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in student conduct, higher education law, and student affairs.
• Interpret, administer, and make suggested edits to the student code of conduct, due process procedure, and student policies. Compliance
• Plan, administer, and act as a point of contact with HFC constituents and community partners for outreach and programming focused on prevention and training.
• Coordinate and administer the delivery of annual notice for the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act in consultation with the Human Resources department. Title IX
• Respond to alleged sexual misconduct complaints involving students by investigating, analyzing, and resolving complaints filed under the college's Sexual Misconduct/Title IX policy.
• Recommend appropriate corrective action to Title IX complaints.
• Provide advice to individuals, including the Reporting Party, Accused Party, or a third party, about reporting options, processes, rights, and resources available at the college and/or in the community.
• Serve as a Title IX Investigator by investigating and helping to ensure timely resolution of assigned reports of sex discrimination, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking involving students at the college.
• Coordinate in consultation with the Title IX Coordinator the College's Title IX compliance efforts, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of appropriate disclosures, policies, procedures, and practices designed to comply with federal and state legislation, Title IX regulation, and case law requiring the prompt and equitable resolution of Title IX complaints.
• Provide training sessions to college faculty, staff, and students regarding prevention of and response to sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
