Position Summary

Reporting to the Studio Manager of the School of Design, Arts, and Communication (SODAC), the Student Assistant works collaboratively with a diverse team of student workers to develop a welcoming and supportive community within the SODAC. The Student Assistant in the SODAC provides service to students, faculty and staff through renting equipment and product troubleshooting as well as offers adequate support in the operation of the facilities.

This position will work directly with the Studio Manager as well as full time and adjunct faculty in the SODAC.

Education/Experience

Current Stevenson University student attending the University in good standing with the University academically and judicially. Student must have at least a 2.5 GPA.

Open to current students enrolled in the SODAC within the departments of Communication, Graphic Design, and Film & Moving Image, at the class rank of at least Sophomore and to students who may not be in one of these majors, but have significant experience with related support and technologies.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability
  • Ability to work with a team as well as independently, show initiative, have good time-management skills, be responsible, be innovative and be a self-starter.
  • Possesses a demonstrated appreciation for all aspects of diversity and inclusion including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, ability, class, age, learning differences, political perspectives, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and religious expression.
  • Ability to create a welcoming space for people of diverse backgrounds
  • Interest in all or some of the following: art, chemistry, photography, film, video, sound, production software, graphics software
  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere

  • Adequate computer office skills and willing to learn procedures as needed within the SODAC
Physical Requirements

Medium work: exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Keyboarding, standing and/or sitting, walking, talking and hearing. Ability to climb rolling ladder and function at high altitude in order to retrieve equipment. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal.
