The Office of Graduate Student Services (GSS) combines graduate academic advising, international education, and career development under one roof in order to help students plan their studies for their future careers. It is dedicated to providing guidance throughout a graduate student's tenure at the Elliott School and worldwide career opportunities to current graduate students and graduate alumni.
Position Specific Summary
The Graduate Student Services Assistant will share in staffing the front desk, answering phones, greeting visitors, general office tasks, as well as organizing events and activities as needed, assigned, or approved by GSS staff. They will work closely with employers and students in organizing events and troubleshooting database issues. They will manage the jobs/internships database on Handshake and the document database on GW Docs. This is a summer position from May 12 until August 22, averaging about 20 hours of work on Monday to Thursdays. We are looking for a commitment of attendance (except in cases of emergencies or sickness) to be present during the week of August 18-21 for new student orientation.
Standard Position Description
The student will serve as an administrative assistant and perform tasks to support the operations of the the office or department. Tasks may include: assembling materials, filing, photocopying, giving directions or information, responding to phone or email inquiries, scanning and/indexing documents, light data entry, and other general office tasks. Special projects or duties may be assigned related to specific office needs.

Required Qualifications
This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic familiarity with Microsoft programs and office equipment, customer service experience, detail-oriented, strong cross-cultural and communication skills, ability to multitask, and willingness to learn.
