Structural Engineer - Position Description ICI Services is a 100% Employee-Owned small business with more than celebrating our 25th year delivering superior products and responsive services aligned to customers' needs. We are headquartered in Virginia Beach, VA. We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support our Navy customer in Washington, DC. The ideal Candidate will have experience with commercial or naval shipbuilding programs. Experience in Structural Engineering in-service design on US Navy, or Coast Guard ships is preferred. The candidate must hold a degree in Naval, Marine, Mechanical or Structural engineering or related field. A remote/hybrid work schedule can be accommodated with the approval from our Navy Customer. Security Clearance: Applicant must be eligible to hold an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET personnel security clearance. Position/Job Description: As a Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in providing engineering and technical support for the FFG 62 program. Your expertise will encompass concept studies, feasibility studies, preliminary design activities, contract design activities, detail design and construction activities, independent design reviews, in-service ship design and engineering activities, shipboard installation support, and special studies related to ships, boats, craft, ship systems, and shipboard equipment. Additional Duties: Structural Integrity Analysis: Perform detailed structural analysis and assessments to ensure the integrity and safety of ship structures, including hulls, decks, bulkheads, and other critical components. Material Selection: Collaborate with material specialists to select suitable materials for shipbuilding projects, considering durability, weight, and cost-effectiveness. Ship Stability Analysis: Conduct ship stability assessments to ensure vessels' stability under various operating conditions and cargo loading scenarios. Quality Control: Implement stringent quality control measures during the construction phase to maintain adherence to design specifications and regulatory standards. Structural Modifications: Evaluate and propose structural modifications or improvements to enhance ship performance and operational capabilities. Naval Architecture Support: Collaborate with naval architects to integrate structural design elements seamlessly with overall ship design. Interface Coordination: Work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of structural elements with electrical, mechanical, and systems components. Experience Requirements: A minimum of 5+ years of experience in DoD/Navy program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management. Familiarity with DoD/DoN procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process); NAVSEA 05 Ship Design procedures and processes; Supervisory experience; experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel; ship building experience desired. Educational & Certification Requirements: Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or related field. Master's degree in engineering with a focus on structural engineering is Preferred. Professional Engineer License. Preferred. Membership to Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) or American Society of Naval Engineer (ASNE) is preferred.
