STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COORDINATOR Athletic Program Profile: East Grand Rapids Public Schools is a district with a strong tradition of excellence. The high school serves 899 students, with 81% participating in at least one sport. The district has a distinguished history of athletic achievement, earning 153 state championships and offering 33 varsity sports. Additionally, the high school features a world-class Fitness Center, equipped with 20 racks, providing extensive opportunities for athletic programming and student development.
Summary of the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Position: East Grand Rapids Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Strength and Conditioning Coordinator to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive strength, conditioning, and injury prevention program for student-athletes. This position will play a key role in enhancing athletic performance, reducing injuries, and promoting overall wellness in alignment with the school's athletic and educational goals.
Essential Functions and Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Ability to design and implement strength and conditioning programs for all athletic teams and middle school students, ensuring age-appropriate training that aligns with sport-specific needs
- Ability to develop and oversee individualized training regimens that ensure student safety while focusing on strength, endurance, speed, agility, and injury prevention
- Ability to develop schedules for training sessions for in-season, out-of-season, and middle school athletes
- Willingness and ability to collaborate with coaches, athletic trainers, and medical professionals to optimize student-athlete performance and safety
- Ability to supervise and maintain strength and conditioning facilities, ensuring a safe and organized training environment
- Ability to educate athletes on proper strength training techniques, nutrition, and recovery strategies
- Willingness and ability to monitor and assess athletic performance and make adjustments to training programs as needed
- Ability to promote a culture of discipline, work ethic, positive attitudes, and teamwork among student-athletes
- Ability to ensure compliance with all school, state, and national athletic policies and guidelines
- Ability to support multi-sport participation and off-season training programs
- Willingness to participate in professional development to stay current with trends in strength and conditioning
- Ability to teach strength and conditioning programs and skills as needed to student-athletes, coaches, and P.E. teachers
- Ability to schedule, coordinate, and implement sports performance camps for students in grades 2-5
- Ability to instruct and assist with data collection and tracking of workouts for athletes
- Experience working with high school or collegiate athletes in a strength and conditioning role
- Strong understanding of athletic performance training, biomechanics, and injury prevention
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletes, and school administration
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning facility management and equipment maintenance
- Certification through a nationally recognized organization (NSCA-CSCS, NASM-PES, USAW, or equivalent)
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification

Rate: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications

Duration: 260 day, full-year assignment
