Position Summary The Store Manager Trainee (SMIT) role is designed as a developmental opportunity for aspiring store managers. Under the guidance of a Store Manager or District Manager, you will gain valuable leadership skills and operational knowledge to prepare for a successful career in management.
Your Role and Responsibilities - Engage in training initiatives and projects aimed at your professional growth and promotion to Store Manager.
- Enhance the shopping experience by overseeing visual merchandising, sales strategies, and fostering customer relationships that drive sales.
- Meet and exceed personal sales and productivity goals while mentoring sales associates to reach their potential.
- Build a strong team environment by demonstrating effective leadership and providing constructive feedback to support staff development.
- Manage store operations, including cash handling, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with GNC procedures.
- Participate in community outreach initiatives to promote GNC's mission and values.
Note: Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager. After 90 days, performance will be evaluated to determine eligibility for advancement, based on multiple factors such as performance, availability, and willingness to relocate if necessary.
Work Environment and Schedule - Standing or walking for up to eight hours a day.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.
- Lifting up to 20 pounds regularly, with occasional lifts up to 40 pounds.
- Working in temperatures between 50 - 85 degrees, especially in stock areas.
- Using a computer for approximately 60% of the workday.
SMITs are expected to work forty hours a week, including two weeknights until closing, key weekend shifts, and major U.S. holidays when the store is operational.
