Position: Storage and Server System Architect Must be US citizen or Green Card Holder, no third parties
Location: San Jose, California, USA
Summary: This role involves defining the next-generation architecture of Storage/Server systems, leading technology research, studying market trends, interfacing with customers, and guiding the design team in the Storage/Server domain.
The architect will primarily focus on hardware but must collaborate with software, firmware, mechanical, thermal, layout, signal integrity, and testing teams as part of the overall system architecture.
Key Responsibilities:- Define complex server/storage/converged platform solutions and lead a multi-disciplinary team through implementation.
- Engage extensively during engineering validation testing (EVT) and ensure design quality metrics are met.
- Develop and maintain technical relationships with suppliers/partners regarding product roadmaps and technologies.
- Lead technical response teams for requests for quotation (RFQ).
- Deliver system specifications, marketing requirement documents (MRD), and product requirements documents (PRD).
- Act as the primary technical interface between the organization and customers.
- Provide technical support to business development teams to secure new business.
- Participate in hiring design team resources as needed.
- Champion process improvement initiatives.
- Engage in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.
- Prepare and present technical presentations to customers and at industry events.
- Stay current on industry trends and future technology opportunities.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:- Proven experience in architecting and delivering server/storage/converged products to market.
- Excellent customer presentation skills and ability to interact with large OEM customers on product-related issues.
- Broad knowledge of current digital and analog components.
- Successful experience with new product introduction (NPI) launches.
- Extensive knowledge of system-level power, cooling, mechanical, software/firmware, and electrical design integration.
- Experience with Asian-based design teams is preferred.
- A minimum of 12 years of server/storage hardware design experience, with at least 5 years at the system level.
Education:- BS in Electrical Engineering required; MSEE preferred.
Travel Requirements:- International travel is required, approximately 4-6 trips per year, along with domestic travel for customer and internal meetings.
