The Accounting Manager oversees and manages the company's accounting operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and efficient financial processes. This role involves guiding a team of accounting professionals, managing month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements, and analyzing financial data to support decision-making. The Accounting Manager will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets, improve internal controls, and optimize accounting systems. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other applicable laws.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial strategies to support organizational goals.
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing training, feedback, and performance evaluations to foster growth and development.
- Partner with auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure successful audits and compliance reviews.
- Drive the implementation and optimization of accounting systems, software, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior management, providing insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support business decisions and long-term planning.
- Supervises and motivates direct reporting staff by assigning duties to each employee, explaining how these duties are to be done and communicating how the successful performance of those duties will be measured.
- Monitors and corrects performance issues in real time and appropriately documents issues and corrective actions.
- Leads and directs the work of other employees and has authority for personnel decisions. Manages strategic hiring, people scheduling, performance management, corrective actions, and separations.

Technical Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as QuickBooks, SAP, or NetSuite.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex financial modeling.
- Expertise in preparing, analyzing, and presenting financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, audit practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret and analyze large data sets to identify trends, variances, and actionable insights.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA designation preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Proven track record of managing financial operations in a fast-paced environment, preferably in cannabis or manufacturing.
- Experience with financial audits, budgeting, and implementing accounting systems and processes.
Requirements:
- Ability to work in an onsite environment, depending on business needs and company policy.
- Must pass a background check and any additional pre-employment screenings required by the company.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 15 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
- Ability to get in and out of the vehicle and walk up and down stairs during your shift.
