Job Overview

Pride Health is hiring a Central Sterilization Tech to support our client's medical facility in Kansas City, KS. This is a CONTRACT opportunity of 12 Weeks and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization.


Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontaminating, processing, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments and medical equipment. The role includes operating and monitoring sterilization and cleaning equipment while maintaining accurate documentation according to regulatory standards such as AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA. Technicians ensure aseptic techniques are consistently followed to protect patient safety. Duties include equipment inspection, biological monitoring, and responding to sterilization failures per protocol. The technician also supports endoscopy reprocessing, assists in staff training, and reports equipment or safety issues. A clean, organized, and compliant work environment is maintained at all times.


Key Responsibilities and skills:


  • Perform decontamination and sterilization of instruments and medical equipment.
  • Operate and monitor cleaning and sterilization machines and systems.
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collect, sort, and disinfect reusable surgical tools and supplies.
  • Inspect, assemble, wrap, and label instruments and trays for sterilization.
  • Test, maintain, and document the performance of sterilization equipment.
  • Identify and apply correct sterilization methods per item type.
  • Follow protocol and document results for biological monitoring.
  • Respond appropriately to failed biological tests.
  • Ensure aseptic techniques are applied in handling all sterile items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the sterile processing environment.
  • Deliver sterile supplies and equipment to designated hospital departments.
  • Support endoscopy equipment reprocessing, as needed.
  • Participate in orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment or safety concerns to leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education- High school diploma or GED
  • Sterile Processing Tech cert required
  • 2-3 years of experience required
  • Detail-oriented with good experience.
  • Computer skills.
  • Data entry and processing.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and stress management skills.

Additional Information:

  • Location: Kansas City, KS and other locations
  • Job Type: 12 Weeks contract
  • Shifts: 8 HOURS EVENING SHIFT
  • Hourly Pay: $ 28-$30/ hr

Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
