Sterile Processing Educator
Full-time 40 hours weekly
Monday - Friday Predominantly day shift, with possible off-shift time to meet theeducation needs of the department

We are seeking an Sterile Processing Educator to coordinate for the department, which will include assessment of instrumentation skills, training technicians on the accurate use of surgical instruments, how this instrumentation is used in surgery, decontamination, sterilization and case cart assembly. Teaches and supervises Quality Assurance protocols and assists in ensuring regulatory compliance
Detailed Responsibilities:
Conducts initial and ongoing assessment of individual technician skill level with assistance from the Supervisor.
Identifies the need for further education of the Sterile Processing staff by conducting in-services.
Assists in the Certification of the Sterile Processing Staff. This person will be the educator of Certification classes.
Demonstrates knowledge of various sterilization processes and acceptable parameters
Checks biological, chemical, and mechanical indicators as vital.
Demonstrates professional responsibility:
Serves as liaison between Sterile Processing and Interpersonal Educators to improve physician/nurse/ tech and MA quality of service.
Assists in the development of capital and operating budgets to facilitate improved services to Sterile Processing.
Preceptor and support for, new hire, along with supervisor assistance.
Assists in the Infection Prevention with rounding and reporting of findings related to Joint Commission compliance
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent experience, associate degree preferred.
5 years Sterile Processing or Operating Room experience and CRCST, or CSPDT, or CST, required
CER, CIS, CHL certifications, preferred
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
