State Manager of Policy and Advocacy, WA (Seattle Area-Temp/7 Months)
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining advocacy infrastructure in target legislative districts by identifying, cultivating and organizing supporters, student activists, and volunteer leaders. You will develop and maintain key relationships with coalition partners, elected officials and community stakeholders to advance advocacy campaigns. In partnership with the State & National Campaigns team, you will drive the legislative agenda in Washington and design campaign tactics for local, state and federal priorities.
What You'll Be Doing/Essential Duties:
Build, develop and sustain advocacy and campaigning infrastructure presence in key districts
- Recruit, engage and maintain a supporter base that includes volunteer leaders, students, and other community members. Engage supporters in online and offline activities, such as letters, phone calls, petitions, social media, in-person meetings, letters to the editor, etc.
- Sustain community action teams to coordinate local, state and national campaigns locally
- Select strategies both online and offline to educate and engage targeted individuals and groups to meet goals and deliverables
- Work collaboratively with the student engagement team to build student clubs on targeted college campuses and support the outreach and advocacy efforts of college and high school student ambassadors
- Work collaboratively with Washington Family Engagement Associate to develop a network of advocates and create pipeline for future volunteer leader program Conduct trainings and provide ongoing support for volunteer leadership development
- Manage volunteer data, ensuring accurate reporting
