OverviewAssists in enhancing the training and improving the skills of health care providers in communication, diagnosis, physical exam techniques, and other skills as set forth in objectives and outcomes written into trainings for health care providers, students in the healthcare field, and employees who have contact through the nature of their employment with patients or their families.
Responsibilities Undergoes training to learn how to present the medical history, simulate the physical symptoms, and portray the emotions of the patient upon whom the case was based.Give learners immediate verbal feedback on performance as well as evaluate learner performance based on an evaluation checklist specific to the case.May also be used to portray the roles of family members or others to allow learners to practice communication skills involving more dynamic communication and critical thinking skills.Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications - Must be at least 16 years old.
- High School graduates preferred.
- Some acting skills preferred or a desire to act.
- Must complete application and orientation requirements for DH staff.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Physical requirements consist of standing, sitting, writing, and speaking.
- Successful completion of training program for standardized patients by the patient safety training center before working in the role of a standardized patient required.
