Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accountant performs professional accounting work, including auditing, analyzing and verifying fiscal records and reports, preparing financial and statistical reports, providing information to staff regarding accounting practices and procedures, and reconciling general ledger accounts, prepares year-end audit reports and schedules. Assembles highly confidential and sensitive information. Some familiarity with laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function to ensure compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with journal entries, credit card transactions, and preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting.
- Assist with completion of month-end close, financial reporting procedures, bank reconciliations and the other account reconciliations.
- Assist with preparing payment support and responding to information requests regarding outside commission detail.
- Assist with account reconciliations and financial statements.
- Assist with annual budgeting, quarterly forecasts, and updating and distributing monthly budget-to-actual departmental statements.
- Maintain a current working knowledge of accounting software and how it can be utilized more effectively.
- Interact with internal and external auditors.
- Cross trained to assist each position in the accounting department with various tasks as back-up and/or support.

NEEDED EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
- This position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting plus experience of 1-3 years.
- MUST have prior sales & use tax experience
- Intermediate level of knowledge with Microsoft Office tools.
- Must be well-organized, strong attention to detail, ability to effectively multi-task and set priorities.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively within a team.
- Experience working with Epicor and Cognos a plus but not required.
