Staff Systems Applications Engineer

DUTIES: Responsible for evaluation and reference board designs, evaluation test plan definitions, device evaluations, evaluation report and development of datasheets, application notes, field sales training materials, software demonstrations, and related collateral. Assist in design win support with FAEs and directly with customers (schematic and layout review, system verification, application notes, application related issues, system debugging and design review). Interface with R&D staff to perform product verification. Support engineering and assist Quality Assurance to troubleshoot customer returns. Work closely with analog designers, digital designers, systems architecture, firmware, application, and test engineering to specify, design, develop and manage an evaluation system for complex power IC test platforms. Work cooperatively with our Strategic Marketing, R&D, Business Development groups to guarantee that products meet specification and the developing needs of our customers. Will work on development of lab automation, including the control of instruments to ensure repeatability of bench-level regression test results, with automated data collection and test-case scoring. May require to travel/telecommute. REQUIREMENTS: Employer requires a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics engineering, or related technical field plus 12 months experience in job offered, Applications Engineer, Design Engineer, or related occupation. Experience must include: 1) Inductor Design/Transformer Design, 2) Buck, Boost and Flyback Converter Designs, 3) Orcad Capture, Pspice/Simplis, 4) Control theory, closed loop compensation, stability analysis, phase margin, power converter controller schemes or tradeoffs, 5) External components selection and optimization for power converters, 6) Lab/bench validation, test and debugging of ICs for power converter products, 7) customer applications and systems of low power/loT mobile consumer and industrial products, 8) SIMPLIS/SIMetrix, Cadence, Spice, Simulink or MATLAB, 9) DC/DC buck, boost, buck-boost, charge pump, LDO, SEPIC or Cuk, and 10) Lab equipment use and automation.
