Job Description:
Walmart Global Tech is seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer with strong expertise in Node.js, React, and AWS to join their engineering team in Reston, VA. This position plays a critical role in building scalable, cloud-native applications and services that support Walmart's global operations. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in full-stack development and deep knowledge of AWS infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js and microservices architecture
- Build responsive and high-performance user interfaces using React
- Lead AWS cloud architecture efforts and manage services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, and ECS
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement system design and architecture
- Ensure code quality through automated testing, CI/CD practices, and performance optimization
- Mentor junior developers and help drive engineering best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Node.js and building RESTful APIs
- Expert-level skills in React and modern JavaScript frameworks
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ECS, etc.)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform or CloudFormation
- Solid understanding of scalable architecture and system security best practices
- Must be able to work onsite in Reston, VA five days a week (no exceptions)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with containerization (Docker, ECS, EKS)
- Prior experience in large-scale enterprise or retail environments
- Exposure to DevOps tools and practices
