In this administrative position, you will become a key member of a team of homeland security professionals in providing vital administrative, research, analysis and monitoring services. Your typical duties will include: Serving as the office manager and ensures that administrative practices and procedures used are consistent with established policies, procedures, regulations, and missions. Serving as staff assistant to an executive senior leader performing analysis and needs assessment to ensure an ambitious travel plan is executed to keep the senior leadership in touch with the field. Screening calls and directing inquiries to appropriate staff and on own initiative initiates calls for information pertaining to inquiries. Providing administrative support requiring analysis of a variety of areas that includes transportation and security. Assisting in the preparation of special projects and other varied functions that will assist with important activities of a non-recurring nature that cannot be specifically defined or predicted in advance. Qualifications Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Maintaining lists of issues/problems concerning functions that are the responsibility of the manager. Scheduling appointments and makes all necessary arrangements for travel, meetings, conferences, etc. Providing administrative support to the principal manager's office activities, e.g., compiling and comparing information and documentation, and making logistical arrangements for meetings and conferences. Participating with other staff members in researching, gathering and compiling briefing materials, talking points and executive summaries for use by the manager at meetings and conferences. Education Substitution: Successful completion of one year of full-time graduate education from an accredited college or university may substitute for the experience required at this level. If that information is not available, use 18 semester or 27 quarter hours. OR A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) may also substitute for the experience required.
