Encore Talent Solutions has partnered with a client in search of a Staff Accountant/Payroll Specialist with Construction industry experience on a direct hire basis. This role is not approved for C2C or vendor referrals.


Job Summary:


Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the Company. Prepares and reports on the financial position of company by tracking assets, liabilities, and profit and loss. Processes multi-state payroll and related withholding tax returns.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Previous experience in accounting or finance roles within the construction industry is highly desirable.
  • C.P.A. eligible preferred.
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll for 100+ employees

Duties & Responsibilities:


General Ledger Accounting

  • Enters journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger records.
  • Reviews general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Documents proper internal controls.

Monthly Close and Documentation

  • Performs cash reconciliations, administers positive pay, manages petty cash and monitors cash balances.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts, investigates differences, and documents accordingly.
  • Prepares documents for annual external review.
  • Creates and interprets reports to provide valuable insights.
  • Organizes and updates accurate records on tight deadlines.

Tax Reporting

  • Prepares required tax returns (Sales Tax, Ohio CAT, Wash. DC Ballpark, etc.) on monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Maintains compliance with local and state registrations, ensuring good standing with each locality in which Pioneer works.

Payroll Administration and Withholding Tax Reporting

  • Runs reports, reviews for accuracy, and submits to required agencies on a weekly basis.
  • Processes payment of benefits (e.g. 401(k) contributions, HSA funding) on a weekly basis.
  • Collaborates with HR weekly to ensure payroll reporting is accurate.
  • Monthly union dues preparation and payment.
  • Annual W-2 reporting.
  • Collects time and processes payroll for all full-time Office, Field, and Shop employees.
  • Process layoff checks for Union Employees.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
