Job Summary:
Industry leading construction company headquartered in Miami (Coral Gables) is hiring for a Staff Accountant to join its team as soon as possible. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting and financial operations, including helping to maintain accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
This is a hybrid role (3 days in office, 2 days remote) in Coral Gables, Miami. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of accounting experience at a large or mid-size company (preferably within a Construction or Real Estate Development company). Bilingual Spanish is a plus, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with job cost accounting, tracking project expenses, and allocating costs to specific construction projects.
- Prepare and file tax documents, including sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, forecast costs, and analyze project profitability.
- Assist with audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and calculate depreciation.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies.
- Provide support for payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 2 to 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Timberline, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of job cost accounting and construction-specific financial processes is a plus.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus (but not required)
