Position Summary The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the company's tax compliance efforts, particularly in payroll tax, income tax, and multi-state taxation. This position requires a strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities Prepare and file payroll tax returns (federal, state, and local) accurately and on time.
Assist in preparation of corporate income tax returns and supporting workpapers.
Manage tax registrations and compliance in multiple states.
Research and interpret tax laws and regulations related to payroll and multi-state operations.
Reconcile payroll and tax liability accounts.
Assist with audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
Maintain accurate tax records and documentation in accordance with internal policies.
Collaborate with HR, payroll, and finance teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a focus on tax.
Strong knowledge of payroll and income tax regulations.
Experience with multi-state tax compliance.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
