As we are continuously growing, we are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our passionate team.


POSITION DETAILS

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our accounting team as a Staff Accountant. This role reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounts receivable functions while gaining exposure to various areas of accounting. Your responsibilities will include processing payments, generating invoices, resolving billing issues, and assisting with reconciliations and reporting. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and cross-functional accounting support.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies through account reconciliation and statement review.
  • Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and process customer payments.
  • Generate and issue invoices using QuickBooks Online.
  • Conduct credit reviews and onboard new customers.
  • Monitor and manage AR retention, perform cleanup, and ensure accurate reconciliation.
  • Perform daily AR transactions, including data verification, classification, posting, and recording.
  • Reconcile AR ledger and resolve any inconsistencies or errors.
  • Follow up with customers regarding outstanding balances and send timely payment reminders.
  • Communicate with clients to address billing issues and payment inquiries.
  • Prepare AR aging reports and maintain the job invoice log.
  • Assist with cash collections forecasting and provide updates on AR status.
  • Support ad hoc projects, reporting, and audit preparation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

At Dakota, we take on and execute some of the most challenging access projects in the country. To help us successfully execute our projects, we are looking for a Staff Accountant with these qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of accounts receivable processes and GAAP accounting principles related to AR.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on data accuracy.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; able to prioritize tasks and meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • A customer service-oriented attitude and well-developed interpersonal skills.
