About the role: Programs Management Analytics and Technologies (PMAT) is seeking a highly qualified lab administrator to operate and maintain PMAT's SSDS System Integration Laboratory (SIL). Ships Self Defense System, (SSDS), is the US Navy's combat system deployed on over fifty aircraft carriers and amphibious support ships. PMAT has a contract to develop and maintain the SSDS software and is seeking qualified individuals to grow this capability in San Diego, California. The SSDS SIL houses multiple ship sets of tactical combat system processors, consoles, networks, and simulation test equipment emulating sensors and effectors, capable of replicating the US Navy SSDS fleet. The ideal candidate will have multiple years' experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading classified combat system hardware onboard ships, in Navy schoolyards, or at Navy labs. PMAT is seeking highly motivated self-starting individuals that can quickly familiarize themselves with the mission and operational needs of the lab, that are well organized and familiar with maintenance of classified holdings and government property management.
The Lab Administrator will support the SIL operations and maintenance per direction of the PMAT SSDS Program Manager. The position requires both strong independent performance and ownership of tasks, as well as frequent interactions within a multi-disciplinary team of technicians and engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Lab configuration drawings/files defining the physical layout of equipment
- Maintain Lab configuration documentation for each event (archive)
- Maintain Software/ firmware library for all GFI, CFI, and PMAT generated artifacts
- Maintain classified logs for all classified holdings (HW, SW, FW, documents)
- Organize and maintain storage of all classified assets
- Perform periodic audits of all classified holdings - deliver audit reports
- Perform needed corrective action resulting from classified holding audits
- Maintain accurate and up to date inventory of GFP and ensure audit readiness.
- Manage a property inventory database for auditing, tracking, and recording maintenance
- Attend GFx meetings with customer for the purpose of requesting needed GFP
- Ensure all GFP assets are properly documented and segregated
- Perform periodic audits of all GFE/GFI - deliver audit reports
- Perform needed corrective action resulting from property audits
- Maintain a priority list of needed GFE with impact statements supporting need
- Submit facilities and equipment purchase/repair requests, as needed, for lab maintenance
- Security policy adherence
- Lab access control (e.g., grant access, coordinate all lab tours and visitors)
- Maintain visitor, open/close, trusted download, maintenance logs
- Ensure proper marking of classified/unclassified lab assets and media
- Responsible to open/close lab to support scheduled work, maintaining security integrity
- SIL Facility Maintenance
- Ensure proper working conditions in the office and lab for multiple engineering teams
- Maintain lab cleanliness and operational readiness
- Configure lab for special events (customer visits, meeting, etc.)
- Maintain a 3-month calendar of planned SIL activities
- Deliver periodic lab status reports to customer
- Quality, safety, and regulatory policies and procedures to Program Manager's request for support in a timely manner
Required Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with classified media handling, marking, and control
- Experience with OSHA requirements
- Experience working with real-time software development teams
- Demonstrated experience performing in a complex lab environment
- In-depth knowledge of a System Integration Lab (SIL) environment, facilities planning processes
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Naval shipboard experience
- Demonstrated success in conducting complex technical tasking
- Test engineering experience
- Working knowledge of other Navy combat systems (e.g., AEGIS, SSDS, ZCS, etc.)
- Familiarity with LINUX and UNIX-based operating systems
- Knowledge and experience with Local Area Network configurations
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and 4 years of prior relevant experience, Or
- In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required, preferably Navy Combat Systems
Citizenship and Clearance requirement: US Citizenship and Active Secret clearance required
Location: Onsite, Ronson Court, San Diego, CA
Work Environment: Work environment is at the PMAT SIL and offices as needed. In some cases, work in a government facility may be required. Travel may be required for customer engagement, team coordination, and potentially for business development.
