Essential Functions: Performs complex tax preparation, document review, and account analysis Provides advanced e-services support Provides information to customers regarding local taxation to individuals, partnerships and corporations Adheres to applicable tax laws, regulations, and policies and procedures Examples of Duties Examples of Work: UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION Reviews and analyzes tax return forms and applications for accuracy and makes corrections where necessary Corresponds with taxpayers over the phone, in person, and in writing regarding tax laws, regulations, and taxpayer accounts Prepares LMRC tax documents and registrations Navigates e-services to provide support for online customer registration, filing and payments Receives and records payment transactions Calculates and collects tax by completing LMRC returns Negotiates, processes, and monitors taxpayer payment plans Manages daily cash drawer, close-out, and balancing in accordance with policies and procedures Verifies tax documents including individuals, OL's, S Corps, W1's, insurance and transient room returns Provides detailed notation of taxpayer interviews and interactions in the tax system to include proper notation of actions needed to reach resolution Utilizes available data resource tools to research, locate, and contact taxpayers Exercises sound judgement in making decisions in accordance with applicable regulations and established policies and procedures Provides training and prepares materials for established policies and procedures Assists staff members with navigating through the tax system Navigates through recovery data in the tax system Coordinates transfers of tax dollars from one customer or account type to another Posts tax returns Communicates as directed with other Metro agencies and LMRC internal divisions, regarding tax accounts Performs related work Minimum Requirements Physical Requirement & Working Conditions: Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work Communicates with individuals in person and utilizes all types of communication media Spends prolonged periods of time sitting Operates office and computer equipment Minimum Requirements: Associate's degree Accounting Business Administration Economics Finance Related field Two years of quality and quantity experience in customer service, accounting, finance, tax, or collections Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted Special Requirements: Must adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements KSAs: Ability to provide excellent customer service and exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public Strong problem solving and analytical skills Ability to understand and explain complex tax laws and regulations Ability to efficiently navigate and utilize complex computer systems and software Team oriented with strong interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively Possess a high level of professionalism and a positive attitude
