Description Background Information: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer (Missile Defense System of Systems) to be based out of Arlington, VA, Mount Laurel, NJ or Huntsville, AL. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. The company is dedicated to transforming defense systems through innovation, efficiency, and mission-critical results. Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with Subject Matter Expertise in missile defense architecture development across layered systems (e.g. GMD, THAAD, Aegis BMD and Patriot). The ideal candidate will be responsible for leadership in technical designs reviews, system assessments and integration events. This position involves working closely with Missile Defense Agency stakeholders, design agents, and national laboratories to recommend Concept of Operations, requirements decomposition, design and testing. All applicants must currently possess an active U.S. Security Clearance. Responsibilities Include: Apply MBSE and classical SE processes across the development lifecycle (SRR, PDR, CDR, V&V) Provide guidance for interface control, risk analysis and trade studies Ability to coordinate and align software, hardware and algorithm teams Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in relevant field 10+ years of experience with missile defense architecture and BMDS elements Detailed understanding of Missile Defense Domain knowledge, Engagement planning and execution, C2BMC systems, hypersonic and ballistic missile threats Experience supporting R&D or acquisition programs related to weapons or intercept systems Required Skills: Extensive understanding of Kill Chain functions (detect, track, control, engage, assess) Proficiency with sensor-to-shooter integration, discrimination algorithm and interceptor technologies Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop, Flight Testing and Ground Testing, including the development and execution of test plans for component and system level validation Experience with tools such as DOORS, Cameo/MagicDraw, STK, MATLAB Reporting of recommendations and results to US leadership through White Papers, peer reviews and presentations Excellent technical and communication skills and being secure working in a team environment Experience developing technical proposals, defining key development tasks and deliverables Familiarity with software tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, and business intelligence tools. Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations. High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation and analysis. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities. Preferred Skills: Experience working with an engineering organization is desired Familiarity with software development life cycles (SDLC) and system implementations. Pay Range: $164,000 - $273,000 or $198,000 - $328,000 Pursuant to New Jersey Senate Bill 2310 , IDT is required to disclose the "pay scale" or "pay range" associated with a job posting. Notably, however, this amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate's experience, skills, and education.
