The Charles Schwab's Core Technology Solutions organization is looking for an experienced and motivated Application Production Support Engineer to be part of a team comprised of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) supporting a large portfolio of systems and applications in the Treasury, Securities Lending, and Risk Technology space.

Your responsibilities will include working with a blended development team of on-shore and off-shore SMEs, systems administrators, DBAs, and business analysts to perform troubleshooting and resolution efforts of incidents impacting production systems.

What you will do:

  • Providetimely"hands-to-keyboard" incident triage and resolution to mission critical systems and applications in a fast-paced environment while working directly with peers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Drive Incident Management calls, providing clear, concise, and timely communication to Application and Business stakeholders during (and while actively participating in) the triage, troubleshooting, investigation, and resolution of individual or system-wide outages
  • Coordinate application maintenance activities, such has OS upgrades, Disaster Recovery exercises, vulnerability remediations, certificate renewals, password rotationsIif, currency patching, etc. in alignment with best practices, security standards, and corporate policy.
  • Employ monitoring to improve Mean Time To Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time To Resolve (MTTR) metrics as part of analyzing trends and making recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Expand alerting and monitoring to improve operational resiliency and availability
  • Document and maintain resolutions in the Schwab Knowledge Base Article System
  • Develop/Improve Production Readiness processes to ensure the team is ready to support features deployed to production
  • Resolve recurring and ongoing problems and taking responsibility to make decisions when appropriate
  • Responsible for ensuring the Change Implementation Management policies are adhered to for all changes deployed to Production
  • Provide off hours release / deployment and on-call support of service recovery events on a rotational basis.
What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 5 - 7 years hands on Application Production Support/Operations
  • Superior incident triage skills in both Windows and Linux environments
  • Accustomed to working in often stressful situations.
  • SQL/Databases (SQL Server)
  • Control-M, Orca or similar enterprise automation technology
  • Splunk
  • ITIL Processes including Change, Incident, Problem Management, & Root Cause Analysis
  • Remedy, JIRA, Confluence
  • Exposure to Cloud/SaaS applications
  • Working knowledge of automated deployment processes and tools such as Bitbucket/Bamboo and/or Git
  • Superior oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ownership mentality
  • Keen focus on metrics and trend analysis
  • Self-motivated with a strong ability to identify and prioritize multiple issues
  • A sense of urgency and confidence putting the customer first to resolve incidents
  • Ability to forge strong relationships and coordinate effectively with multiple parties during outages and actively communicate updates to Application Development and Business partners
  • Detail oriented and organized with strong analytical skills
  • Team player with strong collaborative qualities and a positive demeanor

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience supporting financial services applications, preferably in the Treasury, Risk, and or Securities Lending lines of business
  • ITRS, DataDog, Grafana, AppDynamics
  • IIS / WebSphere
  • .Net/C /Java Exposure
  • Knowledge of RabbitMQ or similar messaging systems
  • Knowledge of F5 Load Balancer
