Summit Human Capital is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Scientific Software Engineer to support a Venture Backed Cancer Detection company. This position is an exciting opportunity to support a highly-funded startup with some of the best engineers in the industry. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria.
Requirements: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in scientific or research-driven environments.
- Previous experience making research code production ready.
- Extensive knowledge of software validation, quality systems, and compliance standards (ISO 13485, IEC 62304)
- Expertise in Python
- Strong background in cloud computing (AWS and Google Cloud), particularly in scalable and distributed system design.
- Hands-on experience with Nextflow, their workflow automation tool, and containerization technology Docker.
Desired: - Previous work in start-up environments, demonstrating adaptability to fast-moving and evolving priorities.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight-this role requires a self-starter who can immediately contribute.
- Strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities: - Work closely with bioinformatics and research teams to develop software solutions that meet biological and scientific objectives.
- Translate scientific needs into scalable and compliant software that aligns with research goals.
- Assist in the implementation and optimization of bioinformatics algorithms alongside cross-functional teams.
- Develop and maintain high-performance data processing pipelines using Nextflow and other workflow tools.
- Design and deploy scalable cloud-based solutions for data storage and computational analysis.
- Promote best practices in software engineering, including automated testing, CI/CD, and version control strategies.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and quality assurance by contributing to validation, testing, and documentation efforts.
