Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Sr. Quality Engineer will be actively involved with customers, the Quality Management System (QMS), and continuous improvement activities with the aim to manage, exceed, and improve customer satisfaction. Scope of influence is throughout the entirety of process from suppliers, internal manufacturing process, and potentially application of the material. Sr. Quality Engineer will be responsible to ensure all quality business processes are performed with zero impact to internal/external customers.
You will have an opportunity to:
Act as back up to the Quality Manager, or other roles. Provide direct leadership/supervision to other team members or departments based on business conditions
Act as a key Quality partner for Continuous Improvement activities
Act as main/key quality contact for customers and departments
Enact corrective and preventative actions for both internal and external opportunities found
Carry out product and process audits to the ISO 9001:2015 standard and other international standards as applicable.
Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the QMS ISO 9001:2015 standard
Champion continuous improvement activities, where required
Draft, or assist with the drafting of, PMAPs, FMEAs, and Control plans and ensure they're up to date
Develop "Standard" for processes to ensure documentation is adequate for the preservation of processes
Maintain non-conforming material process and develop, or assist with developing, actions to prevent future occurrences.
Establish raw material and finished product acceptance criteria with supply chain and process engineering.
Issue Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) and work with suppliers to remedy nonconformances
Assist with training and awareness of quality topics at the facility
Promote the use and implementation of Lean Six-Sigma practices such as 5S (6S), Poka-Yoke, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Participate in customer interactions for regular business update, reporting, issue resolution and/or continuous improvement collaborations.
Participate and perform drawing/specification review internally and externally and document associated documents in QMS software
Perform periodic QMS audits of Materion Sites or Suppliers
Act as process owner or team member for reoccurring QMS systems such as Process Change Control Board (PCCB / MRD), customer complaints process, CAR management and/or others
QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant bachelor's degree or higher, examples: Metallurgy, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, etc. from an accredited university
4 years minimum in a System-Quality Assurance role required.
Lean Six Sigma experience, Blackbelt certification preferred.
Experience performing lead quality auditing, project management, material science and chemistry.
Experience working in a high-volume chemical manufacturing
Experience in promotion of risk-based thinking and analysis
Experience working with the following programs: Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, MiniTab, WinSPC, and/or MES Systems
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
