Typical Task Breakdown and Operating Rhythm

The role will consist of managing various programs, including:
  • Documentation
  • Specification writing
  • Using ADO
  • Using JAMA
  • Working on program schedules for overall hardware systems or their subsystem modules
  • Supporting test and measurement of cryogenic fridges (test systems for quantum devices)
  • Scheduling and implementing test system upgrades
  • Conducting weekly test system bug triage
  • Other program management tasks as needed

Candidate Requirements
  • Years of Experience Required: 10 years of overall experience in the field of hardware development/validation.
  • Degrees or Certifications Required: An Electrical Engineering degree is required.

  • Previous experience with hardware-related products
  • Previous experience working in quantum-related teams
  • Experience with hardware development, including electrical engineering or radio frequency, and related test and measurement
  • Previous program management experience or hardware development management experience

Top 3 Hard Skills Required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with ADO
  • Minimum 10 years of industrial experience in hardware development
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with project management
Job Responsibilities
  • Plan, create, and manage schedules and budgets for the design, prototyping, and production of hardware.
  • Manage technology development projects from R&D to prototype stages.
  • Identify problem areas, drive issues to closure, and ensure a solid understanding of root causes.
  • Communicate complex issues and trade-offs to development partners and management.
  • Present technical progress reports and build tracking dashboards.
  • Oversee engineering programs and cross-functional teams across multiple geographical locations.
  • Support integrated systems testing through firmware and software development or test and measurement equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities
  • Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization
  • Strong ability to assess risk and apply management principles to technology applications/products and business functions
  • Experience delivering technology and business application solutions in a large-scale, multi-platform systems environment
