Job Details

SUMMARY:
The position is responsible for setting up, monitoring, and maintaining the master production schedule for all assigned value streams to ensure production plans are achieved. The individual will analyze loading and scheduling of materials to optimize machine efficiency, set-ups, inventory levels, and maintain stellar delivery performance by verifying orders are completed on time and in full. Schedules the plant and communicates the schedule and any changes to the appropriate personnel. Sets the weekly and monthly loading capacities for each product group. Expedites orders and is the decision maker for all production flow and individual order priorities. Ensures proper flow and makes recommendations on human resource allocation and scheduling. Works closely with Production Control and Operations Managers to continuously improve the performance of the plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Including but not limited to the following:

SCHEDULING
  • Daily and weekly finite schedules and plans are distributed and verified for adherence.
  • Inventory levels and machine order levels are balanced to efficiently and optimally achieve order completion on time and in full.
  • Weekly and monthly capacities by value stream are controlled and optimized.
  • On-time delivery goals are met.
  • Customer needs are consistently met.
  • Inventory accuracy is maintained through best practices for inventory management including cycle counts and shipping/receiving verification of raw materials.

COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP
  • All schedules and changes that impact product flow are communicated to appropriate personnel.
  • Inter-company communication is effective and performed in a professional manner.
  • Positively influences all directions in the organization including direct reports, peers, and vertically to help the department achieve its goals.

PROCESS AND PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE
  • Demonstrates knowledge of capacities, cycles, and bottlenecks for the value streams.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of material flow and product types to best optimize performance.
  • Becomes the person most knowledgeable (PMK) of the scheduling and inventory systems and tools to make the voice of the customer visible to the plant floor.
  • Ability to handle back-up work from other Production Schedulers is demonstrated.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
  • Actions reflect the department's vision, mission, and values.
  • Regular utilization of lean tools and daily management systems to make problems visible.
  • Utilizes root cause problem solving to ensure problems do not return.
  • Evidence of attempts to maximize and improve work efficiency is shown.
  • Evidence of continued education is demonstrated.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May include supervision of scheduling or production support staff depending on organizational structure.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must uphold a strong commitment to environmental safety and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • B.S. degree in Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge and experience with Enterprise or Materials Resource Planning (ERP/MRP) software, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material specifications, and logistics.
  • Action-oriented with proven success in fast-paced environments.
  • B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • Lean or Six Sigma training.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Work is performed in an industrial setting with varying temperatures, loud noise, and heavy activity.
