Position: Sr. Principal Systems Architect

Location: Austin, TX or San Jose, CA

Overview: This role focuses on leading the design and development of cutting-edge, low-power, machine learning (ML)-oriented, and connected microcontroller (MCU) products. The position requires a seasoned technical expert in system-on-chip (SoC) architecture, with significant knowledge in low power systems, ML, and wireless technologies (such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi). Ideal candidates possess a proactive mindset, excellent technical skills, and outstanding communication and documentation abilities.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and lead the architecture for innovative, low-power, ML-driven, connected MCU products.
  • Analyze and define product performance, power consumption, and area requirements from a system-level perspective.
  • Collaborate with product management teams and customers to establish product requirements and roadmaps.
  • Provide technical evaluations of emerging markets and products to guide business strategies.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Coordinate product and platform roadmap requirements with the Platform Architecture team.
  • Align product development needs with IP roadmap through close coordination with IP teams.
  • Collaborate with software teams to ensure seamless and efficient hardware/software interfacing.
  • Guide design teams in delivering SoC and IP solutions, including design, verification, and implementation.
  • Drive continual process improvements in design methodologies and workflows.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to support patent creation and development of differentiated solutions.

Requirements:


  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE); a Master's degree (MSEE) is preferred.
  • Over 20 years of experience in SoC and systems architecture.
  • Hands-on expertise in product architecture and familiarity with advanced technology nodes (40nm and below).
  • Proven ability to work across functional teams and navigate hardware, software, and system trade-offs effectively.
  • Exceptional analytical skills coupled with the ability to prioritize and make informed decisions.
  • A high-energy, results-driven mindset with a proactive attitude and a strong commitment to goal achievement.
