We are seeking an experienced
Senior Network Engineer with advanced knowledge in VMware and NSX (VCP-NV certification required) and a strong background in network design, implementation, and administration. The role involves maintaining the infrastructure's stability, optimizing performance, and ensuring security in a hybrid in-office environment. You must be local to Sacramento, CA; able to work onsite
2 days a week via hybrid schedule (transitioning to
4 days onsite starting July).
Key Responsibilities: - Network Architecture & Design:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable network infrastructure to meet organizational needs.
- Develop custom solutions by leveraging VMware and NSX platforms.
- Network Administration:
- Configure and manage LAN/WAN connectivity, VLANs, firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure seamless operation.
- Security Management:
- Proactively secure network systems and enforce compliance with company policy.
- Apply security patches and updates to hardware/software systems as needed.
- Project Leadership:
- Lead network-related projects, ensuring deliverables are met on schedule and within budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for smooth project integration.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Create and maintain network diagrams, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide regular reports on network performance and incidents.
- Mentoring & Education:
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on networking best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends and certifications; recommend upgrades or technologies as required.
Job Requirements
Required Skills & Certifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in enterprise network engineering roles.
- Extensive hands-on experience with VMware NSX, including design, deployment, and lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of core networking protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills (mandatory).
- Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and drive resolution of conflicting requirements (mandatory).
- Deep knowledge of network security principles and tools.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- VMware Certified Professional - NSX (VCP-NV) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with VMware vSphere and other virtualization platforms.
- Familiarity with public cloud networking concepts, especially AWS.
- Working knowledge of automation and scripting tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Ansible).
