Position Summary:

As a network engineer on our team, you'll help the Navy build a reliable network to support Naval operations. You'll work with subject matter experts, project managers, and commanding officers to learn the strategic goals and operational needs that shape the network requirements. You'll then plan the acquisition, installation, configuration, and maintenance of the network components. From resolving interoperability issues across platforms, to supporting the acquisition of hardware, you'll put your hardware and software talents to good use. The Network Engineer will be responsible for planning, design, integration, and installation of complex IP networks. The Network Engineer should be competent in routing, switching, VPNs, and Firewalls and shall provide engineering expertise, to include network design, analysis of alternatives, end-of-life planning, technical documentation, testing, and will be responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and repairing the network infrastructure and application components.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Active Security Clearance Required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Network Engineering experience in a DoD, Navy, and/or NAVWAR program or related field.
  • Professional-level certifications must meet CSWF IAT Level II at a minimum and must have CCNA or CCNP.
  • Experience with applying STIGs.
  • Knowledge of Riverbed WANX products, Network Management Systems, and tools (SolarWinds, WhatsUp Gold, SNMP, NetFlow), Cisco suite of products (routers and switches), TCP/IP routing technologies, including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Travel OCONUS up to 25%
  • Work flexible hours occasionally to support OCONUS customers.
Desired Requirements:
  • Experience in architecting and deploying Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Experience in on-premise and cloud infrastructure security
  • Experience in cloud architectures and migrations
  • Data analytics and PowerShell skillsets
  • AWS, Azure, Oracle, Google, or VMware Cloud architect certification or similar
  • Experience with SDN Technologies, including SD-WAN, SD-Access, NSX-T, and Velocloud
  • Experience with Network Automation in Python, Ansible, NETCONF, or RESTCONF
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies
  • Experience modeling network configuration in JSON, YAML, or YANG
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools, including GIT and Jenkins
  • Experienced troubleshooting via tools and scripts
  • Experience working with open-source software and libraries
  • Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of Cisco ACI"
Essential Functions:
  • Performs design, engineering, implementation, maintenance, and upgrade of the local area networks (LAN)s and/or wide area network (WAN), and/or security infrastructure.
  • Performs configuration management and testing of devices
  • Provide engineering team with analysis of alternatives, concept of operations, and technical assistance on features for network architecture.
  • Support Information Assurance (IA) of network infrastructure.
  • Assist with site design and document development.
  • Analyze, integrate, program, document, and troubleshoot various network components/systems.
  • Provide end-to-end configuration and testing to include installation templates and guidelines.
  • Create Network interconnection and topology diagrams using PowerPoint, Visio, or similar applications.
  • Install and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and other network devices.
  • Implement specific network solutions to support server requirements to include load-balancing, VPN's, firewall contexts, and NAT where appropriate.
  • Assist with planning for the sustainment of current and future systems.
  • Plan for and respond to system events.
  • Ensure network is in compliance with DoD security requirements.
  • Recommend network/security solutions to management.
  • Review installation design plans (IDP), including cable connection diagrams, functional block diagrams and other connectivity requirements.
