Microbiologist - Sterilization REMOTE

Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Microbiologist specializing in sterilization to join our team. The ideal candidate will analyze chemical, biological, or microbiological products, raw materials, in-process materials, release test samples, or stability samples in support of our quality program. You will interpret and evaluate analyses for accuracy and precision, recommend and implement corrective actions, and develop and validate controlled environment methods. Your role will also involve the application of existing techniques and procedures with recommendations for modifications to improve efficiency or the development of new analytical methods and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze chemical, biological, or microbiological products, raw materials, in-process materials, release test samples, or stability samples.

  • Interpret and evaluate analyses against established specifications and recommend and implement corrective actions.

  • Develop, validate, and implement controlled environment methods.

  • Apply existing techniques and procedures with recommendations for improvements or devise new analytical methods.

  • Perform qualitative tests or quantitative assays using standard analytical equipment and modern automated instrumentation.

  • Establish requirements for the transfer of methodology.

  • Deliver and manage assigned projects and work with stakeholders to achieve desired results.

  • Mentor colleagues and direct the work of lower-level professionals.

  • Communicate with senior internal and external customers and vendors to exchange information and influence decision-making.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within the job area.

  • Manage projects requiring delegation of work and review others' work products.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology or related technical discipline.

  • Minimum of 15 years of industrial microbiology experience in the Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry.

  • Thorough familiarity with FDA, EU, and other international regulations, standards, and guidelines covering sterilization and microbial contamination control.

  • Solid understanding of different types of sterilization methods including ethylene oxide, gamma, and steam.

  • Proven leadership and knowledge in international and national standards such as AAMI/ANSI standards, E-Beam, ISO (Steam), (Radiation), and others as applicable.

  • Certified Microbiologist or Certified Industrial Sterilization Specialist (Ethylene Oxide/Radiation/Steam).

  • Excellent organizational and judgment skills with the ability to maintain and generate accurate records.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Computer proficiency using word processors, spreadsheets, and project management tools.

  • Ability to apply advanced scientific principles.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Working knowledge of statistical techniques.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage business unit priorities.

  • Experience working in a team environment, including cross-functional teams.

Work Environment

This position offers a fully remote work environment with occasional travel. You will work 40 hours per week, all during the first shift. Join one of the largest medical device companies in the world and contribute to innovative and meaningful work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
