HTI has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Team Leader) with an automotive manufacturer located in Summerville, SC (just outside of Charleston). This is a full-time, onsite, direct hire position. Salary is dependent upon experience/education, and the range is $90,000 - $110,000 / year. Relocation assistance is available for candidates located outside of the Charleston/Summerville, SC area. The company offers fantastic benefits and a positive, collaborative work environment.



Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial)
  • Must have 5+ years of experience as an Engineer in an automated or semi-automated manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry (or similar high-volume manufacturing industry)
  • Experience with CAPEX, large equipment purchases and installations, new product launches, and project management
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Ability to interpret blueprints/drawings and knowledge of electro-mechanical systems
  • High level of analytical ability and strong logic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and present information to the leadership team
  • Lean Six Sigma/continuous improvement experience
  • Microsoft Office skills (Word, advanced Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Familiarity with SAP R/3 or a similar ERP system
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship


Job Summary:

Will serve as a Team Lead for one Manufacturing Engineer and one Technician, with overall responsibility for the manufacturing processes of sub-assemblies and finished products in the designated manufacturing area. Will manage manufacturing processes for new product launches, CAPEX projects (new equipment installations and the relocation of existing machinery), continuous improvement projects and determining the root cause of production issues. Focus on achieving key production indicators including safety, cost, quality and delivery.



Job Duties:

  • Provides leadership and direction to the manufacturing engineering team (one Engineer and one Technician)
  • Overall responsibility for manufacturing processes and CAPEX/equipment installations for new product launches, as well as ongoing process improvement and KPI achievement
  • Develop plans, cost data, and proposals for large-scale equipment purchases and installation (for new product launches)
  • Manage CAPEX projects, coordinating with internal departments and external vendors
  • Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine root causes of problems
  • Develop and maintain process flow diagrams and PFMEA plans
  • Develop and/or update work methods and standards
  • Establish and maintain certification requirements for appropriate machinery (eg. Work instructions, CVR's, initial production training sign-offs)
  • Keep management team informed of progress, developments and pending problems
  • Implement lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, Kanban, poka-yoke, visual management, 1-piece flow
  • Utilize structured problem-solving tools (e.g. A3, 5Y, 8D, Ishikawa, PDCA, Six Sigma DMAIC, Shainin, etc.)
  • Lead cross functional teams to support all aspects of manufacturing
  • Develop goals/objectives and define metrics to measure performance to the goals for their engineering group
  • Establish yearly targets and KPI's for group. Maintain regular reporting structure for targets and goals to be tracked and communicated. Participates in plant business planning process
  • Support plant-wide commitment to meet all International Standards ISO/IATF16949, ISO 14001, VDA, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
