Job Title: Senior Manager of Fuel Systems
Job Summary:
The Senior Manager of Fuel Systems is a critical role responsible for overseeing the implementation, maintenance, optimization, and support of all IT-related systems at gas station locations, including Point of Sale (POS), fuel pricing systems, and associated technologies. This role ensures that fuel technology systems run efficiently, securely, and reliably to support business operations, maximize profitability, and enhance the customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute strategic plans for fuel-related IT systems aligning with overall business goals and compliance requirements.
- Identify emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction at fuel stations.
System Management:
- Manage installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of fuel station IT systems, including POS platforms, fuel pricing systems, EMV compliance, and payment processing technologies.
- Ensure systems' reliability, security, scalability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee timely application of system patches, updates, and upgrades.
Project Management:
- Lead IT projects from conception to implementation, ensuring timely completion within scope and budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage resources, address risks, and ensure project objectives are met.
Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain productive relationships with third-party vendors and service providers.
- Evaluate vendor performance, manage contracts, and oversee vendor-supported installations and services.
Technical Support & Operational Excellence:
- Provide expert-level support for fuel station IT systems, quickly troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
- Implement proactive monitoring and analytics to identify areas for improvement, drive efficiency, and reduce downtime through automation and optimization.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Serve as the primary liaison between IT and Operations teams for all fuel-related systems.
- Collaborate effectively across departments, ensuring clear communication of technical information and project updates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing fuel-related IT systems, POS technology, or retail IT infrastructure.
- Proven project management experience with the ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects.
- Solid understanding of fuel pricing systems, payment systems, EMV/PCI compliance, and related regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with fuel station technology vendors (e.g., NCR POS, Dover Wayne, Worldpay).
- Certifications in relevant IT or project management disciplines.
- Familiarity with retail business intelligence and analytics tools.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time hybrid role: 2 days remote and 3 days in-office/on-site as required.
- Occasional availability during evenings or weekends to address operational needs or emergencies.
