Position Description:
CGI is seeking a highly skilled Sr, Java Developer to join our dynamic development team.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Java programming, experience in software development, and a passion for building scalable and robust applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions.
This position is located in Dallas TX; however, a hybrid model is accepted.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance Java applications.
• Implement Kafka producers and consumers to facilitate real-time data processing.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to gather requirements and implement solutions.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and maintainability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while following best practices and coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing applications and integrations.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and their application in building efficient systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing applications and integrations.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges related to performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Provide solutions to critical production issues and ensure minimal downtime.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and compliance requirements.
• Understanding of automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Java code.
• Implement software features and modules based on project specifications.
• Collaborate with senior developers to create scalable and robust applications.
• Use appropriate frameworks, libraries, and tools (e.g., JPA, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, Gradle, etc.) to build Java applications that meet project requirements.
• Conduct unit testing and participate in integration testing.
• Develop Java applications that produce and consume messages from Kafka topics using Kafka's Java Client.
• Implement serialization and deserialization strategies using formats like JSON, Avro, or Protobuf for message formats in Kafka.
• Configure and set up Kafka brokers, topics, and partitions based on project requirements.
• Manage and monitor Kafka clusters to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Review code written by junior developers and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Maintain technical documentation related to design, development, and deployment processes.
• Document APIs, libraries, and frameworks for team use.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements.
• Analyze and clarify user stories or project specifications.
• Manage and prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
• Update project management tools with progress and blockers.
• Work closely with other developers, QA engineers, and designers to deliver high-quality software.
• Mentor junior developers and share knowledge with the team.
• Provide updates on project status and technical challenges to team leads or project managers.
• Assist with deploying applications to production environments.
• Monitor application performance and participate in maintenance activities.
• Ensure the application follows security best practices and guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's/master's degree in computer science, information technology, or related fields.
• Ņ+ years of solid hands-on software development experience with a focus on continuous delivery and deployment and cloud automation.
• Proficient in Java and its ecosystem (frameworks like Spring, Hibernate),
• Strong understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL)
• Good Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good Knowledge of design patterns.
• Advanced expertise in Java (Java SE, Java EE) with a strong grasp of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and multithreading.
• Good knowledge of popular Java frameworks like Spring (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security), Hibernate, JPA, and experience with RESTful web services.
• Expertise in building RESTful and SOAP web services.
• Knowledge of relational databases like MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL, and familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Understanding of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes) and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Proficiency in version control systems like Git/Bitbucket.
• Experience leading development teams, mentoring junior developers, and facilitating collaboration.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and oversee multiple development projects simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed technical decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders, clients, and team members.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, testers, and product managers.
• Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is 88,200 - $173,500.
