Description Background Information: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Sr. Hypersonics Systems Engineer to be based out of Arlington, VA, Mount Laurel, NJ or Huntsville, AL. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. Systems Engineer with a Subject Matter Expertise in Hypersonics who can provide full lifecycle engineering contributions and leadership in a team environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and advancing the development of computational tools for the analysis of hypersonic vehicle performance including aerodynamics, signatures, mission modeling and assessment. This position involves working closely with Missile Defense Agency stakeholders, advisors, and national laboratories to recommend Measures of Effectiveness to ensure the design implementation achieves mission success criteria. All applicants must currently possess an active U.S. Security Clearance. Responsibilities Include: Develop and integrate computational tools for the assessment of hypersonic vehicle performance into existing and new tool suites Analyze data to uncover trends, insights, and recommendations for performance assessment Support vehicle testing and live firings Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field 10+ years of experience in defense systems, specifically hypersonics or missile defense Experience with Hypersonic detection, tracking, C&C systems and Hypersonic threat types & interceptors Detailed understanding of the current DoD activities on National Defense Strategy, Hypersonics Roadmap and related policy documents, both in terms of weapons development and the methods to counter Experience supporting R&D or acquisition programs related to weapons or intercept systems Familiarity with threat analysis, defense intercept technology and layered missile defense systems Required Skills Experience with relevant standards and testing procedures Proficiency in modeling and simulation Reporting of recommendations and results to US leadership through White Papers, peer reviews and presentations Excellent technical and communication skills and being secure working in a team environment Experience developing technical proposals and defining key development tasks and deliverables Familiarity with software tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, and business intelligence tools. Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations. High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation and analysis. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities. Preferred Skills: Experience working with an engineering organization is desired Familiarity with software development life cycles (SDLC) and system implementations. Pay Range: $164,000 - $273,000 or $198,000 - $328,000 Pursuant to New Jersey Senate Bill 2310 , IDT is required to disclose the "pay scale" or "pay range" associated with a job posting. Notably, however, this amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate's experience, skills, and education.
