Senior Hardware Engineer

Celona is looking for a talented Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team.

As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will own the technical interface between our in-house engineering teams and our ODM partners. You'll review designs, validate prototypes, troubleshoot hardware issues, and ensure that our private 5G APs and related devices meet performance, cost, and reliability targets. You'll work cross-functionally-liaising product management, software, operations, support and field engineering teams to bring robust, market-ready products online.

This position will report directly to the Head of Engineering and our ideal candidate will be based in Silicon Valley, with the ability to be in our Cambell, CA headquarters at least 2 days a week.

Core Responsibilities:

• Review and approve ODM hardware designs (schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs) for 5G AP platforms
• Define hardware requirements, tolerances, and test criteria; lead regular design-review sessions
• Coordinate with sourcing, quality, and supply-chain teams to optimize cost and lead times
• Guide ODMs through prototype builds and revisions; personally validate first-article units
• Develop and execute test plans (RF performance, thermal, environmental, EMC/EMI)
• Analyze failure modes, root-cause issues, and drive corrective actions
• Partner with Product Management, CTO, Solution Architects on antenna integration, power-budgeting, and enclosure design
• Work with software/firmware teams to verify hardware-software interoperability
• Provide manufacturing-ready documentation: drawings, gerbers, assembly instructions, and test procedures
• Support pilot trials, field tests, and customer-site deployments
• Monitor production yields and quality metrics; implement DFM improvements
• Troubleshoot in-market hardware issues and coordinate rapid ODM response

Experience Required:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years' experience in hardware development, preferably within wireless, telecom, or networking
• Hands-on with PCB design tools (Altium, Cadence Allegro, or similar) and schematic capture
• Solid understanding of RF fundamentals (5G sub-6 GHz/mmWave), high-speed digital design, signal integrity, power integrity
• Experience defining and running environmental/EMC/EMI/thermal test plans
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with ODMs, cross-functional teams, and external vendors
• Proven track record of taking hardware from concept through production

Nice-to-Haves:

• Direct experience with private-networking or enterprise-grade wireless products
• Familiarity with mechanical CAD (SolidWorks, Creo) for enclosure and thermal analysis
• Knowledge of compliance standards (FCC, CE, PTCRB, RED)
• Prior work in agile or lean-manufacturing environments
• Experience with design-for-test (DFT) and automated test systems

Compensation for this role is between $150,000- $185,000.00
