Position Overview
Were seeking a detail-oriented Landscape Construction Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will analyze project drawings and specifications, prepare accurate cost estimates, and collaborate with our sales and design departments to deliver competitive proposals that win clients and protect our margins.
Key Responsibilities
Review Plans & Specs: Interpret architectural drawings, site plans, and engineering documents for hardscape, irrigation, planting, and grading scopes.
Quantity Take-Off: Measure and quantify materials (pavers, stone, concrete, timber, plants, irrigation components, etc.) using Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar software.
Cost Research & Pricing: Solicit vendor quotes, maintain up-to-date unit pricing, and apply labor and equipment rates to develop comprehensive bids.
Proposal Preparation: Compile detailed estimate packages, including line-item summaries, scope clarifications, and addendum tracking.
Risk Analysis: Identify potential project challenges (site constraints, soil conditions, drainage needs) and include contingencies.
Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, designers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates.
Bid Follow-up: Track bid status, respond to inquiries, and revise proposals as necessary.
Qualifications
Experience: 35 years estimating in landscape construction or related civil/site development fields.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with take-off and estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Excel). Familiarity with AutoCAD a plus.
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of hardscape installation, planting, irrigation systems, grading, drainage, and equipment operations.
Analytical Aptitude: Excellent math skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex drawings.
Communication: Clear, professional written and verbal communication; ability to negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
Education: Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
Certifications: NICET, CLP, or related estimating certification a plus.
